I have never liked going to the gym. Mostly it was because I compared my body to other fit, thin bodies and felt woefully inadequate and embarrassed. I also didn’t really like the type of exercise I could do there but it was what you did to lose weight. It was no surprise that I never stuck with it.
Last April I decided that I was going to start walking outside. At first it was because I wanted to lose weight but it quickly became more than that. It has become a meditation of sorts. My head clears and my best ideas are hatched during my walk. It’s become so essential to my transformation that it’s not a chore and I even walk in 17 degree weather…gladly!
The key for my commitment to this movement was to realize I do it for peace of mind and not for weight loss. I never thought I would enjoy exercise this much!
